Want to keep learning herbalism while spending time with a community of like-minded plant people? Our monthly herb club offering is designed for folks who have been through Arete’s programs previously and are looking to continue to learn herbalism, spend time in the gardens & park plant foraging, and make herbal medicine. 

Herb club will meet monthly at the Arete Barn Studio for more advanced herb & plant projects, as well as a focus on spending time outside with the plants! Sessions can be flexible & adapted to the participants desires, for example, if the group wants to spend a whole session in the park focusing on plant ID, or if there’s a project suggestion that everyone wants to pursue, we can make that happen! 

Projects may include things like nettle pesto, pine needle fermented soda, herb and fruit jams, savory herbal broths, and propolis salve, depending on what the group is excited to explore.

While continued learning and community strengthening is the goal of this program, herb club has a more laid back, flexible structure than the DIY Herbalism program- we want this offering to be able to be led by the group’s interests, and to be fun! All materials will be provided for each project, just bring your curiosity and a notebook for any notes!

Who Can Join?
Herb Club is designed for past students of our DIY Herbalism program, but we also welcome those who have completed a similar foundational herbalism program elsewhere. If you feel comfortable with basic herbal techniques and are ready to continue learning, this space is open to you.

Location:
Areté’s newly renovated barn studio in historic Unionville, PA
(near Kennett Square — exact location will be shared after registration for privacy).

Club Schedule:
We’re offering two Herb Club sessions: Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon. Please select your preferred session from the dropdown menu when registering.

We’ll meet once per month for 9 months, at the same time and day for 2.5 hours.

About Your Facilitator:

Rabia is a Clinical Herbalist in the greater Philadelphia area teaching herbalism classes and offering private herbal consultations. She was brought up with herbal medicine & astrology and weaves these two powerful modalities together in her practice. Rabia studied horticulture and botany through the historic Barnes’ Foundation program, while completing a community herbalist training under Clinical Herbalist Ashley Elenbaas. She went on to study clinical herbalism in Dr. Tieraona Low Dog’s Foundations Program. She loves to lead plant walks and herbal medicine making workshops, and to bring people together in connection with the earth. She believes body, mind & soul are deeply interconnected and true healing can happen when we work through this lens.
